It caught me off guard.
Growing up in the midwest thru storms and tornado warnings it was just exciting and fun to watch the storms come on. The lights would go out the storm whistles would blow, you would grab your favorite things and the flashlight and head to the basement to play until it all blew over.
The evening was completely normal and we sat in our living room sewing and watching tv. All the sudden I heard an unfamiliar sound in the desert. A crack of THUNDER..we instantly ran for the front door to see what was coming and at that moment the lightening almost got us. I have never seen such a storm here.
Quickly we shut the door and took cover, literally...
My boy has never experienced a really good thunderstorm and this is how I found him once coming back into the house.

We are in for more monsoon weather all week but boy oh boy have I lost my edge for a good storm...its been so long even I was a bit shaken :/

Ooooh, I just love a great storm! I really wish we had more of them but usually it means a loss of power. Last winter we lost our power for about 2 days and were so cold......had fires going in the fireplace though and it was so cozy!
I'm not fan of storms even though we need rain in the desert. I remember tornadoes all too clearly growing up in Chicagoland. Dark skies, winds, lightening, not good for my nerves. Give me a soft summer rain any day!!
oh they can be SO scary! we;re experiencing our 6th day of a heat wave hear on the east cast and when it finally rains..the lightning hit so close our house shakes! scary!
we hardly get them here in Alaska or they are just so short and move on thru. I'm afraid I've lost my edge too because last time I was back east and experienced one I had all but forgotten how intense they are. Scary yet exciting.
