Slight Progress

*Sorry for the grainy pictures, I used my phone with bad lighting....

Well, I got the slip wall completed for now.
I will add more and more as the months go on and I can find more vintage slips.
Hopefully my sister will find some estate saling in Chicago for me ;)
I got these gorgeous mercury oversized beads at Anthropologie yesterday. Can you believe that they were $48 marked down to $12!!!! YAY!
I just love what they do for the space.
The mirror is up, I was going to put it over the slips but I like it peeking thru better.

Not all went well today, I had a shelf collapse and so that makes me have to rethink some things.
There is no putting it back together, it really was a piece of junk.
This leaves me without some storage so I will either have to downsize even more stuff or find some new hiding spots.
I have really put myself on a budget for this makeover, I only want to spend the money on the bed and bedding and work with what I have in the other areas.
This is what I have left to work with! UGH. There is a long way to go but I have more tricks up my sleeve.
It really will start to come together once the bed goes in.
More fun tomorrow will be had. I really do love moving things around and freshening the house.
It really makes me realize that I DO have way too much stuff and need to part with about half of what this room holds. Boy, I wish this area had a flea. I could really use one to unload stuff.

A New Morning

Change is good right??
Oh, What have I started?
My studio is a complete disaster.
But I can see the vision I have for it taking shape already.
Starting with just this simple picture.
This will be the wall the bed goes up against.
I will have it filled with vintage slips, camis and aprons, piled on top of one another
A mirror will hang over that to reflect the morning light that shines so bright in this room.

This is just day one. There is so much more to come. I will document as much as I can as I move along.

New Years Plans

This is not what you probably think it is going to be.
No, no parties or fancy dresses. No drinking til we are sick and saying hello to midnight.

It will be a much better...to me anyway.
I will be re-decorating and rearranging my studio.
We started tonight but the fun will come when the new bed arrives and I can dress it in this gorgeous antique french duvet. I just fell in love with it. The blues, the pattern and the soft soft cotton.I treated myself to this lovely after all the presents were bought for others and donations were made. It was a little gift to me and my guests getting ready to visit.

I will get new pictures of the space by next week. Oh, I can't wait to dive into this project.
Freshen up things. I will now be able to sit in my studio in comfort and watch a movie to crochet to or journal the night away.
So what are your plans for ringing in the New Year?
Will it be wrapped in your favorite blankie and watching movies?

Time To Refresh

2012 is just around the corner and as I sit here journaling and reflecting on my year, I have realized it is time for a much need break and renewal.

I want to spend more time with my family in 2012.
I have worked hard having my own shop and earning my own spending money with it.
It makes me feel good as a SAHM to do this.
But through my reflections I can see, I have received all my wishes I could have ever dreamed up from the material world. There is nothing that I long to work for other than devoting more time to my family.
I have been granted more than I ever thought possible.
I am grateful for everything life has provided and need to give thanks back.
So I will close up shop for 2 months in order to spend a ton of time with relatives coming to visit, plus my little one and my husband.
I want to take this time to renew relationships and refresh our home.
I will still be blogging but the shop is taking a backseat to family in the year 2012.

I will reopen the shop when I feel it is the right time.
Thank you for all of your support and understanding :)

Christmas Cards from Paradise...

K, so I was listening to sirius radio 1st wave station the other day and heard Flesh for LuLu, Post Cards from Paradise playing and totally named this post after that.
WOW that song took me way back, do any of you remember that group???
Anyhoo,
I received some amazing Christmas cards this year from great friends, artists and family and I thought I would share.
From little friends I have seen grow up into amazing big friends, aren't they adorable? I just want to hug them all :)
Merry Christmas Santana, Maggie and Billy!!!

To amazing artist friend Kimberly at Numinosity
This handmade post card is something I will always have in my studio on display

And this most amazing vintage post card from 1908 Sent by my sister
It came from St Louis Mo from Tamaroa, Il It looks as if it were made now to look vintage but the back has the original christmas wishes to Ruth From Elsie
This is an amazing piece of vintage Christmas history that I just gobble up.

We received so many amazing cards and these are just a few to show the spirit everyone has this time of year. Thank you to all of you that sent cards, messages and gifts our way.
It is so much appreciated and will stay with us forever. Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Take Good Care of This MOMENT #4

I can't believe it is the Friday before Christmas, where did this month go?
It is Friday and time to join Lynn for "Take good care of this moment"
My moment just came to me, about an hour ago, yes 5 am my cat was knocking at my bedroom door. He does this to let me know it is time for treats or he will settle for cat food if he must.
But he doesn't stop knocking and it continues to get louder and louder the longer I ignore him.
So here I am up at 5 am, cat fed, baby sleeping, house silent.
I am sitting here in the dark, curled up in bed next to my sleeping child when all of the sudden I hear laughing....my baby is sleeping and dreaming away with laughter and a smile upon his face.
I catch him doing this every little bit. It is the cutest thing to witness.a giggle and a sweet smile in the sound sleep. What must he be dreaming??
I wonder what it is that is going thru his head and can't wait for one day that he finally begins to talk to tell me what it is when he wakes.
This is something I would have missed if not for a hungry fat cat knocking at my door. Please join Lynn and share a moment or just take in all the moments others have lived this week.

Hubby got me this Simply Shabby Chic Snow Globe ages ago for Christmas...I leave it out all year round.
A few of my mended art dolls that will be showing this February in the Gallery

and just for fun a side table of collections :)
Have a great Wednesday everyone.
