Shop Update

New in the SHOP tonight

I have been working on new bags and loving my new fabric designed by my hubby.
These bags and coin purses will be hitting the shop soon.

But for now I am filling the shop with vintage items
Its been awhile

First up this darling vintage half apron.
It has a unique vibrant needlepoint print  all cotton in roses galore.

I just think it needs to be on a gypsy rose cowgirl out there somewhere

Then the cutest little kids belt ever, they don't make them like this anymore.
Hand crafted native american beaded leather belt  A souvenir from Wyoming.

So full of color, texture and design.

Then,  I have carried this shirt around with me for ages since pulling it from a bale back in my vintage sorting days at Value Village.
Vintage Motley Crue Tshirt

Amazing vintage find and good vintage condition given the style and band.

All of these items are now listed in my ETSY shop.
Vintagemarketplace.etsy.com
I hope they find good homes.

Giving Back

Have you heard of Sevenly??
Well it is a wonderful organization that produces cool goods to sell to raise awareness and money for great causes.
This weeks cause is bringing awareness to Autism.  Something near and dear to my heart.
Water soothes and changes a child.  Thanks to Izzy Paskowitz and his vision for getting kids out into the water he started Surfers Healing.  So when you buy from Sevenly this week the money help goes to send a child with Autism to Surf Camp.
These are two amazing organizations that are coming together to spread the word and change a lives for families affected by Autism.

Please take a moment and go to Sevenly and help change the way the world sees Austism and give back just a little.

I highly recommend you visit Vimeo and watch the Izzy Paskowitz story.   I found this story just as our child was being labeled and I cried all day.  I knew then I had to fight for my child.  Today my child is now label free.  Be the change a child needs. Spread the word.  Do something.

Summer

Usually I am not one for Summer.  Never have been.
Even as a kid it wasn't my favorite.
But this year it has all changed.
I am loving Summer this year.  I know, I know, you are saying...But Amy Summer just started today.  Well, our Summers start much earlier here in the desert and we have all ready been on 3 Summer vacations.

Maybe it is because I am finally feeling good and healthy to enjoy the workouts that Summer brings.
Swimming, walking, biking and just good ol fashion playing.

We have been doing a lot of all of the things listed above and it feels great.

Now that the heat is really hitting us here in the desert, we get in the pool early and then we stay put at home the rest of the day.
Creating, exploring, movie watching, and playing.

Yesterday the boy made his first tent/fort of the season.  Using the dining table and all the blankets in the storage closet he could find.  He didn't come out for hours.  Today he is right back in there after lunch.  His little hideaway from the world.  Discovering, playing and talking to his little stuffed toys and legos.

Me,  I am busy creating away.  I have 100's of ideas for my gypsy pouches and I just need to find the time to sit and make them.  They really are like holding security blanket in your hand.  Softest vintage cottons and hand stitched embroidery and doilies make up all of them.  Each one is a one of a kind creation full of history and vintage goodness.
Stop in my ETSY shop to see more

Happy Summer to you all, how are you spending your lazy summer days?

Summer at the Beach

Last week wasn't enough and we had so much fun that we decided to pack up the truck and head right back to the beach.  This time for a week.
Oh it was splendid.
8 hour days spent surfing, swimming, exploring, and laying in the sun.

There is nothing like the beach to renew your spirit.

We soaked in every possible moment.

Then the sun went away and the fog rolled in.
The last two days were cold and foggy.  We went to visit Grammy and were able to hop in her pool for about an hour before the sun went away again.

It was disappointing but we still had so much fun.  We opted for a little shopping and site seeing around Laguna.  Found some great stores.
Lala-Kerry Cassill is to die for.  Her handmade linens are amazing.
Then I found a few vintage shops.  Sin is Pretty is very cool full of oddities and vintage.  The owner is super sweet.  Blast is a vintage consignment shop packed full of vintage and high end consignment items.  Also very chipper and nice.  It was a fun walk down PCH to discover little boutiques.  It was the perfect way to spend the day if we could play on the beach.

On the last night we did an early Father's Day celebration at Coyote Grill in Laguna.  If you are ever in the mood for amazing Mexican food and very cool beach front views, then this is your place.  They have GF and Vegan options so the menu is huge!
Great service too.
Thanks to the manager, she tended to the boys needs perfectly with no fear of GLUTEN or DAIRY contamination.

It was so fun and relaxing and I am sure we will head out a few more times before summer is over.

Beach Getaway

With the temps already being to hot to live in town, we decided lets go to the beach, so we did.

We took and extra long weekend to just go chill.  And it seriously was the best vacation ever!!!
Next year we will skip Disneyland and just head for a super long vacation beach side.
No crowds, no lines, just fun all day in the sand and surf.
This boy discovered boogie boarding and we couldn't get him out of the water.

Later he watched as the volleyball courts had sweet games going on and decided he could play too.  He picked up the ball and was a natural.

We ate jelly sandwiches under the umbrella when lunch break came around.
He just chilled and watched the guys play volleyball.

We made sand castles, we swam and warmed our skin in the sun like snakes on a hot rock.
It was glorious.

In the evening we found a little time for some shopping. Walking thru Laguna shops always makes me happy.
This little Jess Brown Doll found its way to my heart and home.  So excited by her and her bloomers.  If you are ever in Laguna, stop at Hillary Boutique for kids and women.  Amazing clothing and super cute toys and bags.

We so hated to say goodbye to the beach.  But lots of work has to be done at home.  I have fortune cookies to make, and orders to ship.
But we  will be back soon Laguna!
