Gobble Gobble Gobble and A Gift to give

Today is a family crafting day. We are getting ready for the Turkey to come visit.
I found these cut-outs at Michaels and my boy is having the best time decorating them.
Colors are not as fun as glue!
I have notebooks filled with his scribbles and I am cutting out feather shapes from them for him to glue.
He is so in love with gluing on the feathers....on anything including the cat. lol

I remember doing a similar craft in grade school.
Every year we would get a white paper plate to cut and color and then add our traced elbow and fist as the turkey neck and head. Our art teacher would then give us stacks and stacks of floral wallpaper sample books to cut our feather shapes from, mind you, these books came from the 70's so the patterns were quite crazy.

Before we got started on this craft, we had to run by the bookstore.
I fell in love with this little story of Mistletoe.I think I really missed my calling for being a childrens librarian. I adore childrens books and this one is a keeper for sure. I urge you to stop in the childrens section and read it, and then if it strikes you, donate it to a childrens book drive this season. It could just be the little book to change a life. I will be doing exactly that with a copy.

So off I go to continue gluing and creating. Hope you are having a creative day too :)

I bought so many books for my own kids when they were little, and now my grandkids enjoy them. Plus the books that I buy them as well. Riley has a library card, so her and Katie go to the library once a week. Morgan is the one that is amazing. She will sit so very still and quiet, just looking at all the pages in books. She's almost 2-1/2. I got her the V-Tech Reader for Christmas. Brooklyn is just SO cute in those pictures. And you? What a great mom to make sure he is exposed to books and crafts.

Take care Amy,
Sue

Oh Amy, that is an awesome idea!! My kids and I have started a new thing every night after dinner. Instead of watching movies, we read. And I have to say that I am enjoying it just as much as they are! I will definitely have to check out that book.
This weekend I was going to stop by and get some crafts for the kids. I love the little turkey's Brooklyn is making and what an awesome idea to use his drawings as feathers!! Love it!!
Hope you have a great night.
Sincerely,
Melinda
