Candy Colored Resolutions

Ahh, this last Sunday of 2012 was spent looking at gingerbread houses, and snowfall at the Bellagio Conservatory.

It was a last hurrah for the little one to say good-bye Christmas, hello New Year.

With that came a little window shopping of the high end shops downtown.

As I pressed my nose up against the windows of Chanel, I dreamed of the colors displayed for this seasons collection.
Candy colored pastels...with metallic accents

I am wanting to achieve this same look in my studio without having to paint.  It is coming along slow, but that is fine with me.  As I do not wish to rush it and have to do things all over again in a few months.

But such inspiration came from the walk thru of the Chanel boutique today.

I fell in love with clothes, bags  and shoes.

So anyway, the point of my story today is we looked and I was very, very tempted to come home with a candy colored patent Chanel bag but my resolution for 2013 is to spend less.
I tried it out this weekend just to see how I would do.  Not bad.  Every meal, yes every meal was cooked with what we had in our pantry.  Instead of being lazy and running to get food we made do with what we had.  No trips to Target everyday spending on clearance and sale items.
No instead I have cleaned and purged and reused.  Even the new shelves in my studio closet came from a wood board we have had stored in the garage for 4 years.

I love a good challenge and to make it something I want not that is demanded is the key to the fun part.

The Christmas is all gone

The house cleaned and refreshed to start this 2013 off on the right foot.
A load of donations packed in the car to drop off tomorrow.

I am really hoping that having a fresh, clutter free space to create in will help with my goal of spending less.  Less clutter means more inviting and stress free, plus I can find what I need and not go buy new to replace the thing I am looking for.

So what are your resolutions for 2013?

Hi Amy,
It sounds like you had a lovely day. I like your inspiration for your studio. Can't get any more classic than Channel. I like your make do strategy too. You're right about it being more fun.

I went to the flea market this morning. Not exactly the Bellagio (LOL) but still fun.

Hugs,
Susan
