Acorn

We set out on a mission tonight.

A bike ride at sunset to go pick pine cones out of the park.

A bitterly chilled Autumns night.
It really reminded me of my childhood out playing in the cold wet air hunting for acorns and rididng bikes.

Which takes me back to the title of this post.
Acorn...a simple and easy word for most, but a word that would bring a tear to my eyes this night.
As we were looking for pine cones my son came across what looked to be an acorn and shouted ACORN proudly showing us.
This means more to me than most of you know, reasons I can't explain but it was a moment in time I will never forget.

We continued our hunt of pine cones and filled my bike basket and rode home just as dark set in.

As we wrapped up our perfectly perfect autumn evening we popped in the Moonrise Kingdom dvd.
A lovely family movie night in which my son was completely sucked into.  I am sure it will be our new favorite movie to watch as we craft together.

All smiles tonight :)

As my children are now adults, you took me back to the precious times when they were little! Special moments you hope never leave your memory. So happy that this adventure created a memory for you... one that will always be imbedded in your mind never to be lost over time!!! So sweet!

Amy,

Your post spoke to me on several levels! How very sweet that you captured this moment for you and Brooklyn (he'll appreciate it when he's older!)
I'm so glad he caught you by surprise....never forget that they know so much more than we do.
It sounds like he's doing just great and he seems like such a happy little boy........good for you for being such a great mom!
