Halloween Fun
My Favorite time of year has come and gone...now back to the rush of the holidays.
I only hope that it slows down some for me to enjoy it with my friends and family this year.
Happy Halloween

Winter Kate and Rock n Roll
My favorite piece of "REAL" fashion is my Winter Kate Kimono.
It is the softest, thing ever against the skin. So light and airy. I really wish I could just wear it everyday but I don't want to wear it out. So about once a month I will get it out and dress it up.
If you know me, you know how hard it is for me to find a pair of jeans to fit this body given to me.
I am 6ft tall without heels with a 36 inch inseam...I went to every store I could think of this year to find a dark denim jean that wasn't a freakin' jegging. NO LUCK, Saks fifth Avenue was actually going to custom remake a pair of AG jeans from the mens section to fit my body. K, uh, those jeans are like 168 bucks..plus alterations. I don't think so...I mean, when I find a jean I buy at least 2 pair for the season and if I really find a jean I like I buy them all.
At that price, I would rather buy shorts and tights all year long.
I had given up, until noticing at of all places Target had redesigned their jeans. So ladies, if you hate jeggings, like a mid waist that won't show your business when you bend over and have ultra long legs, head to Target. They have the jeans tall girls dream of. Dark, nice denim, good structure and fit like a dream. Best of all they come in Short, Regular, and LONG
I have mine cuffed today just to wear with my studded heels but normally they are down all the way to the floor!! I bought all our target had and then traveled across town to buy the rest that were left in Vegas. LOL
So today I will head out happy in my vintage Guns and Roses tee, Winter Kate Kimono, Target jeans and INC studded suede heel.
Yep, that means I am 6 ft 3 today! Deal with it!

Circle of Life
Once it again it is time for the Henderson Library to start planning the Gala for Library Tree Lane.
Life has been so full this year with ups and lots of downs, but I have agreed to decorate a tree for this fundraising event. At first I thought I could not commit to doing it but, my heart could not turn them away.
So when I was contacted and asked what my tree theme would be nothing spoke louder than, "the circle of Life"
We have lost some wonderful people this year and had some close calls for other family members.
Yet some of our family are expecting new lives very soon. This really got me to thinking on how we mourn the loss but a new seed grows in its place.
I will hand make all the ornaments on the tree and this will take a lot of time. I only have 2 weeks to complete it all. Wish me luck ;)
But it will have to wait, as for tonight and most of this weekend I am off the clock.
This afternoon will be pumpkin patches and bounce houses. After that, I will sit glued to the tv for game 7 of the world series to root on my Cardinals. So it will be pizza in for dinner and a few cold ones. Last night got loud in my house, the neighbors definitely know who my money is on!
Whatever you are up to this weekend, I wish you fun!!!

Out with the OLD
It must be the cold weather approaching or the seasons changing.
I am full nesting and cleaning mode once again.
Spurred on by a recent blog post on magazines from Gail, I got to thinking.
I used to love magazine shopping and my home reflects that.
I have drawers and cabinets full of my favorite magazines that they no longer make.
Holding on to these for years some date back to moving out here, 2003. That means I have moved with these magazines 3 times until buying our home. eeek, ridiculous!I think I held on to them thinking I could research looks for my dream home decor. So last night I sat and thought, our house is nothing like the ones in my old favorite magazines there is no reason to keeping holding out on a dream for a farm cottage...so I ripped out the inspiration pages that I just couldn't part with and the rest are going to the recycling bin.
These pictures are only half of the magazines that I still need to go thru. But notice the pilesThe thin stack to the left is what I am keeping and filing away. The other just emptied the drawers in my antique dresser.
Now I will have room for storing blankets and the other necessities for winter.
What have you been holding onto that really needs to go?
I feel so much better that this has been addressed.

Farmhouse Collection
Happy White Wednesday everyone.
I am joining Kathleen over at Faded Charm for the love of Chippy and worn whites.
I brought this medicine cabinet home from the Rose Bowl Flea over a year ago.
It has been sitting in my backyard getting even more wear and tear from the outdoor elements.
I finally had my hubby hang it and I love the look.
Its glass is thick and wobblily. It reflects the light of the hallway to the staircase perfectly.
Right below it I have hanging my collection of vintage hardware aprons and newsboy bags.
It all works so perfectly together.
Hope you have enjoyed looking at a little part of my home.
Happy WW everyone.

Catching Up
It is now almost 2 pm and I am still in jammies and having coffee.
This morning has been wonderful and filled with catching up with friends.
Some by old fashion telephone conversations and others thru emails and blogging.
What a relaxing and lazy Sunday.I am well into my knitting now...it should be finished here with in a few more days.
I just love the way this Martha Stewart yarn handles.
I must buy more :)
Enjoy your Sunday, call your friends and family and say Hi!

Mollie Makes=Amy Makes
I am in love with this magazine.
Have you seen it!
oh, it is so full of inspiring artists and color and FUN!
This issue came with a little surprise giveaway for you to instantly make a craft.
How fun is that!
As I sat and browsed thru it last night, I got to excited to wake up today and knit.I have started on my kitties blankie and it is so much fun.
I learned how to knit 9 years ago...then I quickly learned that I liked crocheting better.
But I love the look of knit stitch better. It is so clean and straight lined.
So I have chosen to get out my needles once again to work with this beautiful yarn.
My hands and fingers are NOT thanking me. I know why I like crochet better, not only is it faster but it does not give me claw hands. LOL
Nothing like knitting to show how old I am getting.
But I will keep on keepin' on cause I love the look so far of this little blankie.
Have a great Saturday everyone, and go pick up a copy of Mollie Makes, you will fall in love.

Oh Martha...You Got ME!!
Well I couldn't resist...
Running into my local craft shop for fiberfill I passed the new Martha Stewart yarn endcap.
I fell in love with all of it.
The colors and styles are so beautiful.
Pricey, but beautiful.
Unfortunately most is made with wool so I had to pass on the novelty ones.
But the small balls of hemp, cotton blend were too cute to pass on.
I did opt for a blue and creamy white in another brand. 50 grams at $5 I wanted a bit more for my money.
I can't wait to sit and knit little blankies for the kitties this weekend with it all :)
The bright red and green is so vintage Christmas. Maybe I will have the blankies finished for the kitties to open on Christmas, lol
What are you up to this weekend. Reading a book, knitting project on the couch with a classic movie, or just hanging with family? Whatever it is, I hope you have a great weekend. :)

Pretty Pumpkins
Oh the prettiest pumpkins in the land.Stacey, from A Sort of Fairytale, had shown these at her booth from Na-da Farm last week.
I instantly fell in love and contacted her to see if they sold and if so could she make more.
She was so sweet to reply quickly and offer to remake the ones that sold.
These are so bright and cheery and belong in my studio. They have found a home on my swing for now and I am sure they will move around in here quite a bit but always stay out all year long.
So full and plump and very well made. Here is the link to her shop and blog.
If you love a little color and vintage style done with a down home feel, you have to check her out
Thank you so much Stacey!!
I adore these little cuties :)

Vintage Baby Girl
Just a little altered vintage baby gown I made today :)
linking up with Kathleen for White Wednesday over at Faded Charm :)
Pop of Pillows
I have been going thru my fabric bin lately and I discovered this material I bought about 3 years ago. I never had the right use for it, nor did I want to disturb the beautiful pattern.
Now that I am adding more color to my home again, I saw it and knew I had to make new pillows for my studio swing.lightly stuffed for a more comfy style. Boy do they add a pop of color to the space.
I just love how they balance out the swing and match perfect to my Junker Jane Rabbit.
It has been fun this week going thru my bin of old colorful fabrics....the surprises that I am making for holiday gifts this year are already being loved by some of the furry friends in the house. ;)
I had to do a test run to see if I was on the right track and I can say with a smile, my kitties are loving what I am making.
Hoping this week allows for more time to sit and sew. I just can't seem to get enough of it right now.
Its funny how we go up and down with our crafting loves, one week it is all glue guns and findings to yarn and crocheting and now on to sewing and quilting fabrics.
I guess this is why my studio stays packed with items....I just never know what I will be in the mood to create with.

For the LOVE of SHOES
I adore that my son has a love for shoes like his mommy.
He especially loves boots.
Anytime he has the chance to get into my closet he grabs my husbands work boots and clunks around in them. He tried and tried to get my rain boots and then I remembered I had a pair of kids vintage ones tucked away in my stash of goodies. When I gave them to him, you would have thought he just received every toy in the toy store.
Well, tonight after he fell fast asleep, I did the nightly picking up of the tv room and this is what I found.
It melted my heart.
His favorite stuffie in his new shoes.
Can I get an awwww...

Ponies and Christmas
We took my son riding for the first time this weekend.
Lets just say he loves animals and calls ponies, cows...but when it was time to sit on the pony he couldn't get off of it fast enough. He started riding sidesaddle to try to get down.
Ironic since he is a cowboy for Halloween this year...
So, no asking for a pony from Santa, Drums it is!
Okay on to some more Christmas decor.
Super cute little tags that are super shabby chic french fun.
Great for table setting or ornaments!
Everything here is available in my shop!

Christmas Stockings...HUH????
This is my take on a christmas stocking.
Last year I decided to go with something different for our stockings.
And it just rolled over to me making them for the shop.
They hold a heck of a lot more....that is always better for Santa to fill them with our wishlist goodies ;)Made from all vintage fabrics and lace, doilies, grain sack selvage and french goodness.
No mantel is complete without one hanging in your french shabby home this season.
Will be available in the shop soon.
Be sure to sign up for twitter to get first dibs :)
Back to working in the house today.
Lots of new listings coming your way for the holidays! If you need something one of a kind for a shabby chic lover just let me know :)

Juggling Life
This weekend is a juggling act.
Between the shop, art shows, gala's and family time, I can barely breathe.
When life hits, it hits at once.
But I hope to have news for all soon on some amazing opportunities that have come my way.
For now, I am off to get a slice of lemon cake and breathe......
