Snow In Las Vegas

Okay, not really but to a 3 year old who has never seen real snow this is as close as it gets.
He only knows what snow does, it falls from the sky as seen on tv or read about in books.
To my amazement one day, we had opened the blinds one morning and he was screaming SNOW SNOW, it was the dust particles flying in the morning light shining in.He was so giddy and acting like he was catching it in his hands, even had his mouth open to try to catch the falling flakes.
Oh, to see the joy on a 3 year olds face seeing "SNOW" for the first time.

We continued playing in the "SNOW" the rest of the morning.
It led to playing in our shadows in that little piece of light that comes into our home.

He was thrilled and has such a BIG imagination that it makes me sit back and smile.
No toys needed, nope just some dust and light :)

Doll Parts

Some think my art is creepy and disturbing.
Then they actually talk to me and find that it represents love and rescue.

Most of you know about my love of dolls and doll parts. It all comes from a story in my early childhood.
I save and rescue the dolls that have been discarded in life and try to breathe new life into them for someone else to pick up and love.
Maybe they evoke a memory or feeling from your childhood.

This series of doll parts are all left arms that have been inked with flash art tattoos.
Why only lefties, because I am a leftie.

The story for the anchor one goes like this...
Her dad was a sailor.
When she was just a tot her dad set off to sea, never to return.
All she could remember about him as time went on was that Anchor on his left arm.
So she tattooed her doll, the only other thing she loved and could hang on to, with the anchor.
Holding it every night wishing on the stars over the sea that he would, one day, come back to her.

The Hearts are easily explained as
I wear my heart on my sleeve.

So see, these are not things to creep you out or disturb you. These parts and dolls were all loved by someone at sometime and it is good to give them new life for someone new to love.

Crowns and things

Just a quick peek at a few things from around my studio.
I adore some lovely gifts I have received for my bday.
A gorgeous handmade charm of a crown by a dear friend
and who couldn't use another pair of legs hanging around the house, lol, there are arms to match :)
this creamy flowy slip dress it so divine it has to hang outside of the slip wall to shine on its own.

Here is just a simple shelf that holds some of my bunnies and dolls and my little handmade kitty.

The winds are blowing sssstroooong today. It is a good day to stay indoors and play in the studio.

I need to do a little sewing and some sorting out of the closet needs to be tended to.
Whats on your agenda for the day?
Tomorrow is supposed to bring temps that drop 20 degrees and rain. So maybe we will get one more day of winter in before Spring official starts here.

I think I will join Kathleen today over at Faded Charm for White Wednesday. It has been a long time since I joined in on the fun.

38 AGAIN???

Seriously, today is my birthday but I thought I was already 38!
So it is a chance for me to do 38 all over again. LOL
Maybe it is better the second time around :)

No plans or parties, i have enjoyed the company of a few friends. Some in person and others just in texting conversations for hours.

I will spend my day creating in my clean studio and making some submissions for a magazine ;)

So thanks to all who have contacted me to wish me not only a good day but year!

I am so grateful for what I have and the love I am given. Why not do it all over again :)

Cuteness

Just thought I would share some photos I took of my fatty sunbathing.
He begs every morning for me to open the shade so he can lay in the warm sun.
This is how much light we get, sad...so he lays and follows as the sun moves across the room.
Told ya our house is dark.

March in with Green

I am welcoming March with a bit of greenery added to our home.
We are trying our hand and growing(and keeping alive)some succulents.
They really are adding some lush color and a welcoming vibe to our foyer.
It is great to see a bit of life when walking into the home.I went to West Elm to browse the succulents I had heard about and quickly left, the prices were ridiculous. For the price of what 3 plants, just the plants mind you no containers, was what I spent on 8 plants and planters at another location.
We also picked up some aloe to have growing around for our easy treatment of cuts and burns.
I have rearranged and brought our dogs that were on the porch inside, I rather like them in the house. I am always afraid of the winds blowing them over outside.

The color is coming along nicely and really bringing in that fresh spring feeling :)
