Superhero of Mine

Yesterday was dress as your favorite superhero day at school.
I am telling ya, this school was meant to be for our family.
We have never seen him get dressed so fast and out the door.
He never broke character once and lasted all day mask and all except at nap time.
We roamed the streets looking for trouble and milk...

When he was at school, dad went out and found a Robin costume, thank goodness for Halloween shops already set up.
But before he revealed that he had a Robin outfit, we strolled thru the costume shop with the boy just for him to take it all in.

This boy was on cloud 9.  I seriously thought he was going to explode from costume overload.
His head was just whipping back and forth, saying, ' And I can be Jesse, and Doc McStuffins, and Pirate and Perry and and and...lol

Once getting back home, dad went upstairs and came back down as Robin.

He even had to check under the mask just to make sure it was really dada.

What a day...It was good to stop all going on around us and just have a little fun.
And of course I fit in a little crocheting this week and got back to sewing dolls.
My brain gets foggy if I don't find a little time to make something.

An August Sunday

This August has been unlike any I can remember.
It has been mild and gone by so quickly.

Today is threatens rain, and dark clouds have covered the skies all day.
It is my love to sit and sew while the house is only lit by soft lamps.

I love to have on old who dunnit  kinda movies and tv shows... Castle is keeping me company today as the thunder booms outside.

My hubby has taken the boy out for an afternoon ride to lull him to sleep. But before he did, the boy sat with me cutting his own fabric and gluing it to paper.

I have stayed in jammies all day...got a shower, then put fresh jammies back on :)

I drew up a pattern for my dolls and dresses with pockets to carry a toy in.
Each doll will come with a matching pom pom and a pocket with a toy inside.
As the day went by, I scribbled down my fair booth plans and setup. I am thrilled with the ideas I have decided on to stock the booth with.

It will be french but with a kids perspective...Ruffles in white, dolls in french style, pom poms, garlands, hats, scarves, jars, stars, twinkle and glitter, white and pink, vintage and handmade. But all girly for (big and small).  And all for the young at heart.  Oooo, I must add some hearts too.

I sat today cutting patterns for all of it and slowly I will find the time to sit and sew it all.  Having plenty of time to keep it organized and boxed away until show time.
Yep, just a lazy day...

Well the coffee maker is beeping that it is finished brewing, that is my cue to sit back and make some more goodies with a fresh cup of java.  Oooo, more thunder and the room has turned black.  YAY!!!

Handmade Life made Simple

Real life captured in Doll form
I have just been in heaven making the betty dolls from Mollie Makes.

When my sister announced her engagement this week I instantly knew that I wanted to make her and her boyfriend in doll form.

I am so happy lately sewing and creating in my space.
I was just telling Rhonda at A Little Bit French today that I just had too much stuff to enjoy creating.  Once I let it all go and only have what I know I can use.  I have just enough for what I am capable of using as one person.
If I need something, I go buy one, use it and its done.  No hoarding, no stacking away.  It feels amazing.  The way it should be.  It works for me and I am happy, happy, happy.

No more overwhelmed feelings of what am I going to make today,  or where is that tool or piece of ephemera I need.  It is all simple, organized and clean.

Okay I gotta go my hubby is holding his head wanting Caffeine and says my coffee is the best, ;)  yeah right, I know he is just too tired to do it himself.
