Thursday

I had a hard time with what the title of this post should be.
Nothing clever came to mind so it is just plain Thursday. Even though this is more of what happened this week kinda post.

Struggling to get back to my old creative self and struggling to balance what life is as I now know it, is hard.  But today I climbed a bit closer to regaining some of my creative flow.
It may not seem like much to those gungho crafty ladies out there but for me this is a big step.
Finding something that interests me these days is a chore.  Yes, I can sit and crochet a mindless afghan all night but I really miss creating more.
As the morning was cool, cool enough to turn the air off and have the windows open, I sat and laughed along with my favorite morning tv show. (The Dan Patrick Show)  anyhoo more on that later.
It puts me in a good mood therefore I grabbed a project that had been laying about for at least 4 weeks.  I had and old thrift store jacket I found 3 years ago that was just a little to plain and preppy for me.  So I added my own flair.  Finding a t-shirt for 5.95 in the kids section at H&M, I cut it down and blanket stitched the patch on to the back of this blazer.

I used a rainbow green embroidery thread that really gave it a hippie chic look.  It was a simple task and yes not everyone is going to love it but I think it is a great jacket to throw on with my casual summer attire.  My camo shorts, sailor stripes and good ol converse shoes plus this jacket... its great for the places I need to run that have the air conditioning on below freezing. You always need a light jacket or sweater in Vegas.  It may be a zillion degrees outside but you will freeze once stepping into a place of business out here.  That is my vacation tip for ya if you are in Vegas this summer ;)

This week I tried my first chocolate and caffeinated beverage since having my gallbladder surgery 4 months ago.
Boy have I missed the little things.  It was so good but so was I.  Only drinking half of a tall java chip frap.  It was enough to make me completely happy.  I do have to say it is a treat, and that is what I have to remember.  After losing 18 lbs I don't want to go down that slippery slope of eating and drinking these everyday again.

I tried taking a new profile pick this week...maybe I will try again next week, something more without the blurry closet in the background

While it is the last few days of school, I decided I would sit and read The Great Gatsby as I wait for the boy to come out of class.

I was just discussing with my friend Lynn today that I have never read the book or seen the movie.  I don't even know what it is about.  Isn't that crazy??? So it is an all new thing for me to discover this now.  I think seeing all those new movie trailers got me but I heard the movie was horrible so I want to see what the real story is opting for the book.  It will be a quick read, can't wait to see what all the hype is about.

As for the rest of my week, we picked out new carpet for our upstairs, we made tents, we played silly games and watched a lot of Duck Dynasty.

I even agreed to go camping and fishing this summer...if I get this really cute pink tent to sleep in ;)

Don't forget my Vintage Marketplace shop is having a blowout sale 40% off everything with the coupon code SALES
Come on over and take a gander...

That is my week thus far....hope it continues to be creative and fun.  Oh I forgot to add how my morning wake up call has been... a 30 lb cat laying on my chest crying for food.
no wonder my body aches in the morning

I've heard that the Gatsby movie is splendiferous as far as costumes, stages, etc.
Knowing you as I do I think you may enjoy.....

Secondly, that jacket is perfect!! It is all you and you made it!

Sometimes that creative road is a bit bumpy but then you turn a corner and viola...smooth sailin' my friend.

Love your pretty profile pic, Amy! And the cat's crossed paws in the first photo are too cute! 30 pounds...bigger than my pugs lol! Love the idea for the patch, too...really makes the jacket an original!

Have you seen The Great Gatsby yet? I love the book, and I want to see the movie.

When does B get out of school? Is he attending a summer program?
