Releasing...So I can Breathe

This week has been eye opening and lessons have been learned.
Yesterday was a day of complete happiness, it was gloomy, raining and super cold.
A perfect day to stay indoors. So that I did.
The little one was sleeping, a movie on in the studio and soft light to work by.
As I sat down in my studio I couldn't take it anymore. Do you have one of those closets in your studio that 10 things fall out when you open the door? I said to myself, "enough is enough"
This closet is stifling my creativity. I spent more time avoiding what I had in there than willing to dig and find what I wanted to work with.
Not only is it way too much for one person to own, it takes up valuable space in a small home.
I thought, if I clean this out it gives me more space to have my family come and stay. And it clears my mind and I can breathe when I walk into this room.
I started and didn't stop until I was happy with what I saw...an empty closet.
2 bags of Trash and 1 huge box of donations and 1 trash bag full of material, donated to a freinds church sewing circle.Wow, I feel renewed. I haven't been thrifting or antiquing in months and I know now that it was just a thing to kill time in my life. I didn't NEED any of the junk I was bringing home. It really had a odd sense of hoarding to it all.Oh there is still so much more work to do and yes, my etsy shop will be filling up of things no longer wanted and all at must move prices.
I have only the things that really MEAN something to me left in my room. These things make me smile and give me happiness to create with a free spirit and mind.
I am bringing back out the things with color and freshness to them. Pieces from my childhood that I have moved a million times with me back and forth across the country. These things are important to me and deserve a place over something that really wasn't me to begin with.

Maybe this post would have been better as a New Year's resolution or renewing post but I think it was better to do it now. Just before the holidays hit, the donations will aid someone else and I will go into the new year fresh ;)

I will join Kathleen for a White Wednesday. Head on over to see a lot of winter whites:)

Oh Amy, I have one of those closets!! I can't even get to my own clothes half the time without having to wade through the pile of stuff! I have to clean it out every month or so for sanity's sake! It does feel good to release things that just pile up and that you don't need any longer.
Good for you!
Hope you have a great day!
Sincerely,
Melinda

What a wonderful feeling! I love the feeling that decluttering, simplifying and organizing gives!

Hey Amy!
I'll give you $5 if you come to my house and do the same thing in my studio, hahahahahaha!
It's a flippin' mess right now, embarrassingly so.
Oh well, at some point I'll have fun cleaning it up....just not real soon...:).

I love the feeling of cleaning out a closet or cabinet. I always wonder why I didn't do it sooner. I have one of each I keep meaning to get to, maybe this break coming up I will finally get to it! I am your newest follower, visiting from Faded Charm!

I can totally relate to the "too much in the closet" post! I simply cannot create "fast" enough to rid my closet of supplies and collected finds.

I purge as it gets too dangerous to open the closet door...lol

Love this post, it's the truth...we don't really need everything we think we do.

I cleaned up my room after the show, and boy, did it feel good. I'm still dealing with the aftermath all around the house, but it's getting better! Can't wait to see what goes into your etsy...
