An August Sunday
This August has been unlike any I can remember.
It has been mild and gone by so quickly.
Today is threatens rain, and dark clouds have covered the skies all day.
It is my love to sit and sew while the house is only lit by soft lamps.
I love to have on old who dunnit kinda movies and tv shows... Castle is keeping me company today as the thunder booms outside.
My hubby has taken the boy out for an afternoon ride to lull him to sleep. But before he did, the boy sat with me cutting his own fabric and gluing it to paper.
I have stayed in jammies all day...got a shower, then put fresh jammies back on :)
I drew up a pattern for my dolls and dresses with pockets to carry a toy in.
Each doll will come with a matching pom pom and a pocket with a toy inside.
As the day went by, I scribbled down my fair booth plans and setup. I am thrilled with the ideas I have decided on to stock the booth with.
It will be french but with a kids perspective...Ruffles in white, dolls in french style, pom poms, garlands, hats, scarves, jars, stars, twinkle and glitter, white and pink, vintage and handmade. But all girly for (big and small). And all for the young at heart. Oooo, I must add some hearts too.
I sat today cutting patterns for all of it and slowly I will find the time to sit and sew it all. Having plenty of time to keep it organized and boxed away until show time.
Yep, just a lazy day...
Well the coffee maker is beeping that it is finished brewing, that is my cue to sit back and make some more goodies with a fresh cup of java. Oooo, more thunder and the room has turned black. YAY!!!

Stitching and Stars
Just a peek at what I have been up to. More dream catchers coming soon to Vintage Marketplace.
Also, more vintage embroidered hankie banner garlands.
Worked on these while the boy did therapy today.
Tonight I hope to sit and watch baseball and stitch some more on my vintage aprons.
I still need to focus and get an idea of what I want in my booths for my up coming fairs.
There is just so much I want to work on but it is all jumbled right now.
I start on one thing and with jumping from the boy and his activities, time allows only for me to continue on easy take along pieces. Hopefully I can get it together here soon when the fall semester starts him back on full school.
I am kinda staying away from hats and scarves. Seems everyone and their mom can crochet now and the fairs last year were over done almost 26 booths just hats and scarves. I need to keep it fresh and different.

My New Passion
I have discovered the joy of embroidery again.
It is my new passion.
This summer has just been a lovely one with simple days of staying at home and playing pretend, which is not only great for my boy but it makes my mind come up with all sorts of things to make for our days of pretend play.
Using all things I already have, no money spent which is a good thing now.
So as I make things for him, I jot down the ideas I work on at night for myself.
I started with vintage hankies and haven't stopped. I am in love with how they are turning out. So many possibilities and this is why I had a stack of vintage hankies sitting and waiting. :)
I also have a stack of vintage slips and aprons waiting to get stitched
This is such a great take along, as we sit in therapy waiting for the boy I can ease my nerves by embroidering. I watch my husband as he fidgets and say "you really need to get a hobby for when you wait" It makes the time pass so much easier and faster.
I have so many ideas flowing through my head.
Thanks to a special someone out there in blogland that felt my frustration of not finding embroidery hoops and they magically appeared in my mailbox.
I can't thank you enough for keeping my imagination going and supplying me with them I started on some dream catchers but they will be a bit different than all the others I have seen out there. You will just have to stay tuned. ;)
I also have to say that I am thrilled that I have heard from moms and grandparents of newly diagnosed Autistic children. It makes me so happy to be able to reach out and help others. Telling our story so as to comfort others and let them know you are not alone. It took me a long time to talk about it all and now that I have shared it is helping others share. This is one of those things that you can't do on your own, it takes a village of help and support around you. Something we are just now getting after a year of searching.
So I am hoping that others don't have to wait as long as we did. There is hope and the earlier help is given to the child the better, they will have a better chance of coming out of the haze and live life. As Temple Grandin says "Different Not LESS"

Yummy Vintage

If you read my blog regularly, you know yesterday I said I wanted a day off of mommy duty....well we can't always get what we want.

So my day turned into only a few hours. Just long enough for me to get some pictures of some vintage to add to the shop and then late in the evening an hour for me to workout.
At this point I will take any alone time I can get.
SOLDI will be adding a lot more everyday to my shop in the next few weeks. Hoping to get a lot of stuff out of my studio that I just haven't had time to photograph over the winter.
So be on the look out. Click here to get more info on any of the items above
Well, we didn't hit the big lotto. We don't even have the lotto here so we just pretended to play.
We sat and wrote our numbers down, before the drawing, just to see if our picks would match up.
I got nothin', my hubby hit 3 numbers.
I think it was amazing that one of the winning tickets was sold back home in Red Bud, IL...just 24 minutes from my home town...Who knows maybe it was someone I actually knew that won. Congrats to them, I couldn't even imagine hitting that jackpot. Life is sure to change for who ever it was.
Well, since it wasn't us, I will get back to work, lol
