COLOR on a Cloudy Day

Who knew I loved color.
I have been dying to change things up in our home.
I stated before that industrial and white was getting so boring to look at.
Now that every big box store is carrying it too really turned me off of the look.
I have been collecting color here and there and it has really just all come together.
Never even knowing that I would be putting it all together on my living area wall one day.

We started with this amazing indian rug ottoman from West Elm. It is a beautiful dark blood red with a hint of burgundy, from that came the new throw pillows from some favorite fabrics at my local quilt shop. Velvet!!! Love them.My husband painted this roping cow head ages ago and at the time I thought, "where the heck is that going to go?" But little did I know it would be a focal point in my living space.
I picked up this amazing painting in Orange Ca. love the hues!
My cub swingline staple collection hanging on a vintage ruler pops off the wall!
A few vintage french strawberry crates altered with my love of yarn, really soften things.
oh, and the little shelf is made from discarded wood found in the desert. Super distressed and aged for years from laying out in the middle of this hot hot place.

This vintage Sorry game board came home with me this summer for .10, Found at a hole in a wall but best ever thrift store.
And then to top it all off a limited edition signed, "The Killers" poster from the house of blues concert in 2004. We actually were given this at the V.I.P. Party for the Killers XBox after party.
I love the colors of it in pink and gold. It is the modern touch we needed to livin' this place up.
The room really feels like home and so comfy now.
perfect since it has been pouring down rain all day and so gray and cloudy.
It is just the kind of day to sit and crochet to. Good thing I have plenty of hat orders to keep me doing just that. :)

Amy,
I know what you mean about color! There are definitely times that I look at some blogs and think that their whites look good.....for them! I'm a color girl, I love a good pop of color in every room....could be because I live in Oregon where it can be dreary a good part of the year, so you want the inside of your home to look warm, not cold.
Love your decorating! And so glad for you that you had a storm, I know how you love them so!

Wow, you are doing color. I must say the you did the industrial white justice before though. That display of Swinglines is precious.

Oh and one more thing, I'm on satellite internet now and so excited that I can say goodbye to dial-up and see your whole post in its entirety in seconds!! Now I can get back to blogging and Etsy and commenting in earnest again. This is huge!

Amy, you have a gift! I love your room, and the colors are fantastic for autumn. Love the stapler collection! How cool is that!?!?!?

I received my package yesterday, and the timing could not have been more perfect. Shelley will be taking her pen pal letters to school tomorrow for a presentation. She is so excited to have something special for her letters! I also want to thank you for the nice little journal you included in the package. *love it*

Thank-you, Amy.

xoxoxo,
Ricki Jill
