Let it Be

Today has not started well and the post I had planned will have to wait.
For now I will just let today be.

Dear Diary...

I am still working on the guest room/studio.
It is all coming along so well.
I worked on a pillow yesterday...It was a t-shirt I acquired at a clothing swap a bit back.
I saw it and new I would never wear it as a shirt but what a great pillow it would make.
It reads..."Dear Diary today was the worst" in a lovely scroll of pink and black, I LOVE IT!!!

I found a great shabby style carpet at Target yesterday, it was 14.99 and the damask style of it is perfect for the front of the bed.Don't ya just love opening anything in a box from Tiffany and Co.
This was a wedding gift from my family ( that i begged for) and they came thru.
A crystal Tiffany Cake plate. It has been sitting in a closet since our wedding almost 7 years ago.
How perfect is it that I will never make a cake but it will look great displayed in my room, LOL.
Speaking of CAKE, I just had to splurge on this Kate Spade Clutch. It was meant for me.
I will obey, I will obey...lol

Okay, this is just a little wall with hooks, not sure if I am done with it yet, but I like the overflow it has of vintage little girl dresses and awards, tinsel and aprons, doll legs and arms and a beautiful box tied in bows. The little Simply Shabby Chic Stool here is covered in vintage flour sacks and a great cornflower blue ironstone platter I found back home. Brooklyns baby blanket made by our friend Miss Leona, with a lovely cupie doll tossed in for good measure.Today I will be painting a new sign for the last wall, I am very very excited about it.
I came up with it last night while journaling right here under the twinkle lights.

And then I will be asking all of your opinions on the last piece in my studio to be addressed.
I will save that for tomorrow.

I also have that vintage suitcase to paint, I painted it brown and covered it in vintage steamer ship stickers but I am thinking a really light shabby pink might be called for now. Any opinions on this one?I would love to hear from ya!

The Bed

Well, it is really like a vintage cot, that is an old fashion fold up roll away.
it has a ticking mattress on it and when I saw it I knew it was perfect. This is new and made in italy, guess where I got it....Big Lots, yep, that is right Big Lots.
I couldn't have been more right. I didn't even know the measurements of this bed, but I didn't even have to adjust the table a bit. It slid right in the spot that it was meant for.

I started dressing the bed this evening. I got all the linens on but I am still working on the pillows.
It is late and I need to just sit. But I got some pictures tonight with the twinkle lights aglow.

You know it is right when the whole family comes in and cuddles up to watch a movie, yes, I am sitting here with B by my side the kitties in their beds and Pillow Talk on.
Oh, Doris Day, I think every girl back then dreamed of being her. What style!
Now, I can focus on the other half of the room.
I think my guest won't want to leave after staying in this room. I know I don't wanna sleep in my own bed tonight :)

Little By Little

I don't think I have ever taken this long decorating a room.
It really is coming together so much better than when I only have a few hours to get it all done.
Learning patience and slowing down is so much better.

I hope I am not boring you with each step.

Today is just a little vignette
Rusted white metal garden table will be the side table to the bed.
It holds a wedding gift from my mom, this beautiful mirror. Chippy pink, came from Anthropologie, well it will be 7 years this May. Next is our wedding pic on a beautiful silver tray.
it holds this amazing rhinestone pouch I found antiquing with my brother this summer back home.
The rusted chandi will hang over the table more, I can get that together better when the bed arrives.
I have these great benches, they are from the Simply Shabby Chic line from Rachel Ashwell, when they first hit target so many years ago. One works great here next to the table as a dressing stool. My guests can sit here and put on makeup and do their hair. Oh, I am just so excited by this room.
Thanks for following with me.

More with my Studio

Curtains are coming together, I still want to add a bit more, its just not quite full enough yet ;)
The paper swag now holds the rusted chandi,
and I added a few picture frames that were in the closet, strung with vintage letters.Oh, that bed just can't get here fast enough.
Hopefully it will be here by Tuesday otherwise I just might burst.

Happy New Year, New Studio

Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you all had a safe and rang in the New Year with fresh new attitudes towards happy lives.
I know I got exactly what I wanted this New Years Eve... A sleeping baby a husband busy with work, and that means I got alone time.A whole evening to myself without interruption.
And I did just as I said I would.
I made new curtains for my studio. I used almost every piece of vintage fabric in my storage bin and patched together gorgeous one of a kind shabby curtains.
I will have better pictures tomorrow in the morning light.
Did a little tweaking to the slip wall.and hung a chandi that has been in the closet for years.Things will keep changing as I await for the bed to arrive this week.
I almost have all the bedding ready to layer on.
Late last night I was sketching in my journal and thought of a new way to store some things and make it pretty at the same time. I hope to start on that tomorrow :)
For now, it is time to curl up with my family and say hello 2012!
Glad you're here!
