Happy Halloween

What a long day.
It started with a parade at school and Batman.
As the day progressed it was time for a nap before tricks or treats....
Waking up it was a cold that showed for the tricks.
My little one awoke with a horrible cold and in no mood to knock on doors for treats but we tried.

We left as Woody, Buzz and Bo Peep...

He was much happier staying at home and handing out the candies.

His favorite trick or treaters of the night were Flash and Buzz.

We are now soaking in a warm bath and taking meds.  No candies tonight :(

So sad, of all the nights to wake up with a cold.

Spent the day creating away in my studio working on a large order of my Dear Santa Advent Pockets

Little Ghostee

 Boo!

We are gearing up for Halloween around here.

We have family in town to help out and celebrate.

My son just can't decide on what to wear.

Today he made his own ghost costume

This made us laugh so hard.

Warmth

This morning we awake late, no school, we find ourselves snuggling under covers as the golden morning sun starts shining thru the grain sack curtains setting the room in an autumn glow.
The house has a definite chill as we open our eyes and even the kitties are snuggled down by our feet.
We pull the covers up and hold hands.
I am realizing it is time to go shop for some new winter-esque sheets and pillow cases.
Maybe a plaid flannel or a fun snow scene.

Whatever it maybe, I know we will enjoy these mornings where we get a few extra hours to just snuggle in the warmth.

Acorn

We set out on a mission tonight.

A bike ride at sunset to go pick pine cones out of the park.

A bitterly chilled Autumns night.
It really reminded me of my childhood out playing in the cold wet air hunting for acorns and rididng bikes.

Which takes me back to the title of this post.
Acorn...a simple and easy word for most, but a word that would bring a tear to my eyes this night.
As we were looking for pine cones my son came across what looked to be an acorn and shouted ACORN proudly showing us.
This means more to me than most of you know, reasons I can't explain but it was a moment in time I will never forget.

We continued our hunt of pine cones and filled my bike basket and rode home just as dark set in.

As we wrapped up our perfectly perfect autumn evening we popped in the Moonrise Kingdom dvd.
A lovely family movie night in which my son was completely sucked into.  I am sure it will be our new favorite movie to watch as we craft together.

All smiles tonight :)

Golden Autumn Evening Cold Autumn Morn

The nights are getting chilly,
All we want to do is snuggle up in blankies and have the kitties keep us warm.
And I am getting the urges to eat chilli and cookies....not good.  Comfort food you are so evil!

And the Mornings, we are waking to the low 50's, it gives us a great opportunity to wear our winter clothes in the morning waiting for the school bus.

Oh I love this time of year.  I can't believe October is almost gone...how did that happen :(

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Chicago bound.

I am so thrilled this is the first time ever that I will be leaving the kid and hubby behind and taking a girls weekend.
It is going to be so awesome to be back in Chicago for 4 days!
I miss that city so much.
Getting to see my sis and shop and coffee, what more could a girl ask for?
I am sure my sis will show me so much that it will be hard to leave.
Best of all I get to wear real winter clothing!!!
I can't wait.
I have a few weeks to pack, how am I ever going to decide what to take.

On another note...
I discovered how awesome it is to take out my frustrations on a few golf balls.
I have taken up golf and I am loving it.
A coffee, some good clubs and a few balls for about an hour it the best stress reliever!!!!!
I just picture what it is I am so mad at and boom, that ball rockets across the course!!

On the days where I just need to go and let it all out, the driving range is the best.
The planes fly over low and the course plays the most awesome 80's music to keep it light and happy.

It really is a great getaway right in my own backyard.

What a great day!!!

Flannel

Flannel is my new LOVE

I want all things flannel, red and plaid.

It is just something very comforting to me right now.

Today is a blustery day, that if we had a fireplace it would be lit and flickering.

The winds sound amazing out my window and the cats are in heaven out back chasing leaves and making sounds never heard before from a cat.

Thank you to all who have contacted me about my day of lemons and just know all is good, we have just learned big lessons on professionalism and trust in the business world.

I will move on and cut ties with some I do business with.  There will always be more opportunities down the road....

Autumn Afternoon

Playing in the grass, picking leaves and playing on the jungle gym.

I am trying to figure out how to keep this blog going.
It seems I have reached my photo capacity allowed :(
So if anyone has any secrets to getting rid of old photos in picasa albums please let me know.
I guess my old blog is connected to this one and my space is gone.

Oh Deer

Last year the Vogue issue ,August 201l, with SJP came out and I fell in love with the layout.

I especially fell in love with this photo.
I have been on the hunt for those little deer for a year and today I found them in my own backyard.
A toy shoppe that I have driven by a million times, never having time to stop in, has this little cutie.

I must say it is a big splurge but oh so cute.

I left without it but it is on my wishlist.
We did leave with some cute pirate supplies and a few other little goodies.  This store will be my new obsession.

Full Fall Days

Yesterday my sons school hosted Family Fun day.
We got to take a special lunch and sit outside and eat a little picnic.
Enjoy an hour together while he showed us his big boy school.
It was also book fair day and I always loved Book Fairs as a kid.
So exciting to go pick out a book or a prize.

We found a few books and these awesome cat paw pointer sticks!!
Loads of fun to be had with these.

After a sweet afternoon it was time to head home and root on my St. Louis Cardinals.  YAY another big win for them!!!

As the day went on I crocheted few of the scarves.
Sorry these already sold to boutiques...but if you would like a mix of any of the styles please feel free to contact me.

And then a few new Letters to Santa advent pockets with pins to hang them with.
I think these would be super cute to hang on the jute twine and take one off day by day to open a little prize :)

So anyway a full day and full life right now.
I am slacking on coming by some blogs but I hope to this weekend get a little down time to relax.
Thanks to all my new followers coming by.  I will come introduce myself soon to your blogs.
