Walking in the Dark

Finally the weather is decent to head out at night...so we thought.
2 nights ago it was beautiful, a breeze and dark by 7:45.
It tricked us into thinking, lets go for a walk at dusk.
Heading out I thought, yes it is a little thick out.
And by heading up the street I looked at my iphone for the temp 100* at 8pm
UGH.
we did finish our walk but it was not as pleasant as we would have liked.
At least we know it is coming soon.

Fall Fashion

I wait all year for the big magazine fashion issues.
But this year, wha wha wha :(
So boring and seen it all a million times before.
But then I stumbled upon the Harpers Bazaar bound cover and fell in love.

I think it is so smart of them to publish it like a book.

And the cover is so eye catching fashion gorgeous.

This magazine has given me more inspiration than all the others combined.

The plus side is too that the cover is so great that I can keep it forever with my books on display in my living area.

Thank you Stampington

I am honored to have been chosen in the Edgar Allan Poe Challenge!!!

I received the news yesterday that my art was published in the Sept issue of Somerset Studio.

They chose one of my dolls that I had shown at the gallery last year and that you see in my blog header.
This is the one
You can see it for yourself September 1st on newsstands!!!

This comes at a really odd time in my life and it was such an uplifter to the spirits!

Today I awake to super gray skies, rain, I mean real rain falling, grounds are soaked and the light trickle makes me soooo stinkin' happy. I have all our doors open to see and listen as the child still sleeps. It is like Autumn has arrived. Its almost a chill in the air. O my now great thunder cracking, its going to be a very good day :)

Warm Autumn Kitchen

I am not one for cooking but I love a feeling a warm cozy kitchen.
My kitchen is decorated in warm Autumn colors and Halloween all year long.

It makes me happy, if I gotta be in the kitchen I wanna be happy.

Smells of Apple Cinnamon or Pumpkin Spice are always burning.
Above my cabinets are full of Autumn decor and pumpkin collections.

I am starting to run out of room for all my favorites.

So I have to be very particular with what comes home with me now.

I look around at things that I have made, like these wreaths and pillows, wow before child came I had time to sit and stitch by hand. I actually made these when I was 6 or 7 months along with child.
I remember it was a rainy afternoon as I sat and cut the patterns out and watched a USC game.

As the Autumn decor at stores and online start to emerge I will add a few key pieces each year.

With September approaching the first order of duty is the Autumn front porch decor...I can't wait!

The Month of August

Dear August,
I really dislike you. There I have said it. This is my most hated month of the year.
I am tired of being hot, and cooped up in the house. I am tired of wearing almost nothing everyday.
I long for sweaters and boots, jeans and layers.
August, you tease me with all this new fall fashion but yet none of it is available until my beloved September.
I want cool evenings to sit outside, I want smells of fall to fill my days. I dream of opening windows and turning off this air conditioning.

August please go quickly and take the heat with you.

This is the month I start drooling over fall fashions and lusting for the best fall accessories.
I did find the most comfortable sweater, Free People. It is like having the softest cotton nubby blanket wrapped around you.

Lust, this Fendi bag
Reality, this Vintage carpet bag from Finland.

Purchased on Etsy.

I know it will be almost November before my Fall comes but at least once August is passed it will start slightly cooling down under 100*, which will lead to cooler evenings :)

Late in the Afternoon

It has been ages since getting to play a rousing game of Scrabble around here.

We have to play as child sleeps or else the tiles get messed up in an instant.

As we played the cat came to join the fun.

We think he was trying to spell M-E-O-W...but was waiting for that open M to come around :)

This was a game for the record books. My hubby usually dominates this game. But for only the second time in 12 years I won and I won big...almost 300 points

Then the child of the house awoke and the game quickly came to an end.
He automatically ran in and grabbed letters and started shouting each letter out.

It was nice to sit in the peace and quiet of the afternoon with a friendly game of Scrabble.

Grey or Gray

Finishing one gray blankie and on to another grey blankie...
I figured out why I prefer to crochet in the evening. I was awakened at 5:30 this morning by child and decided I would start my new grey blankie in the grey yarn I was after.
But after having coffee and starting in my hands are way too shaky to enjoy it

By late afternoon, I am more calm and by evening crocheting is so relaxing and slows me and my mind down to be able to sleep better.

So I will put new grey away and get my day started and revisit it this evening.

Happy Friday :)

PS...I think my hands were too shaky even for picture taking today, excuse the blur ;)
