Yummy Vintage

If you read my blog regularly, you know yesterday I said I wanted a day off of mommy duty....well we can't always get what we want.
So my day turned into only a few hours. Just long enough for me to get some pictures of some vintage to add to the shop and then late in the evening an hour for me to workout.
At this point I will take any alone time I can get.SOLD

I will be adding a lot more everyday to my shop in the next few weeks. Hoping to get a lot of stuff out of my studio that I just haven't had time to photograph over the winter.
So be on the look out. Click here to get more info on any of the items above

Well, we didn't hit the big lotto. We don't even have the lotto here so we just pretended to play.
We sat and wrote our numbers down, before the drawing, just to see if our picks would match up.
I got nothin', my hubby hit 3 numbers.
I think it was amazing that one of the winning tickets was sold back home in Red Bud, IL...just 24 minutes from my home town...Who knows maybe it was someone I actually knew that won. Congrats to them, I couldn't even imagine hitting that jackpot. Life is sure to change for who ever it was.
Well, since it wasn't us, I will get back to work, lol

Vintage Display Box

We are currently collecting vintage crates and boxes to display at the landing at the top of our staircase.
It is coming along slowly, since I can't find the vintage crates at a reasonable price.
But as I was shopping my own home for items to use, I came across this little handmade printers block tray. It doesn't quite work for what I am going for but thought it would look super cute in someones home out there.

I have found a new place to take photos in my house now I am just working on the time of day that I will get the best pictures.
By the time I took these it was too late in the day and had to use indoor lighting.
I think early morning, not my best time of day, but will work best for the pictures.

Click here to see more of the printers tray

My plan is to get a ton of pictures taken today and then go sit by myself at the coffeehouse and zone out. Hubby is on toddler duty, I am taking the day off as mom.

Vintage White

I found this handmade crocheted tablecloth last summer and it has just been laying around my studio begging to be listed on etsy.
Today was finally the day it happened. Sold
It is yards long and heavy draping.
I can't even imagine having the time to make something this gorgeous.

Something about it just screams bridal...maybe a gift but I think it would be lovely altered into part of a wedding gown or veil, do you.The way it drapes is so lovely.

I don't think I could ever use it as a tablecloth, I see it as something much bigger.
It is so serene looking just hanging, cascading over my primitive bench. But yet, it must go. I have way too much in my studio and this one I will part with.

Giveaway is Almost Ready

I surprised myself by being able to sit and finish the clutch for the giveaway yesterday.
It was the perfect day for getting lost in a project in front of the tv.

Since I have a couple of different style of followers, I want to offer a fashion item and a crafting item.
Come back on Monday April 2nd to enter.

Well, I took the whole day off yesterday to zone out on the clutch so I better catch up on cleaning and laundry today.
We have already been to the park and started our day with a bang...I better keep the energy going.

I also need to list a ton of stuff in my Etsy shop. It is really nice out today, NO WIND!!!! YAY!!!
Off I go.

Marie Antoinette Craft Day

FINALLY,
I am inspired to make something.

It was supposed to be beautiful out today, but I guess the earth had different plans for us.
It is overcast, windy and a little chilly.
Thinking we should stay indoors today and make things.

I am starting on this crafty oversized clutch...It will be one, yes one of the offerings in my Giveaway coming up.
I found these bright yellow oversized clutches, well thats what my mind saw them as...they are really Laptop cases, from West Elm that were on major clearance.
The bright yellow color is perfect for the easy summer clutch, for that POC to add to your outfits.

I am giving it even more color by adding this applique' from this amazing Marie Antoinette fabric I have had forever. Add in a few vintage doilies, and pops of embroidery thread and there ya have it. A one of a kind clutch for summer.

I am excited to get started on it and the faster I am done the faster I will have my Giveaway up and going :)Stay tuned for the progress and the Giveaway.
What are you up to today, crafting???

Vintage Spring Bunny

Even though today feels more like Winter than Spring, I will share a most prized possession of mine with you.
This little vintage yellow rabbit is mine from my childhood.
There is a story behind it that my brothers always tease me about.
I don't remember my age, but fairly young, maybe 6???
I believe it was a Sunday, my mother and I headed to Ben Franklin, remember those? Anyhoo, we did not celebrate Easter so looking at Easter products was a bit of a no no. But I fell hard for this little yellow bunny. I wanted it and cried leaving without her.

The rest of the day I pouted and cried until my dad caved and took me back to Ben Franklin, right before closing time, to buy this darn bunny.
From that day on, this bunny wore a little dress and bloomers and was my baby.
Over the years, I am not sure what happened to her outfit I adorned her with, but the outfit wasn't the important part... the rabbit was. I have now given her a little Spring rosette ribbon.
My hubby so makes fun of me for still having this poutty behavior when wanting something and leaving the store without it.
All I can say is, when I connect with something I connect hard. See, even this bunny has lived with me now for 30 some odd years. Other toys and stuffies came and went but not the one I pouted over all day :)

New Look For Spring and A Giveaway

I have been itching to change my hair color for months.
I really want to go back to something in a sandy, sunkissed brown
When asking my new hairdresser a few months ago to add brown back to my hair she said no.
I got a bad feeling then that she was not confident in hair coloring. At my next appointment I found out why, she burned my scalp and it has taken 2 months for it to start to heal.
So now I am on the hunt for a new stylist and a new color.
Seeing this image of Jen Aniston really got me happy, I would love to have this shade of hair.
I feel I am just getting a little washed out with the full on blonde color that I have had ever since my old stylist left town. I really miss my old stylist. She knew how to color hair no matter what I wanted, and never, ever told me NO. She always gave me depth, dimension and texture with layers of low lights. It seems everyone else I've tried knows how to only do light and lighter.
So now I am rocking blonde hair and dark roots and not in a good way. I am terrified to put any chemical on my scalp but something must be done. Keep your fingers crossed that I find someone soon to help.

Okay, so I realized this week that I hit over a 100 followers and have posted 200 entries.
I thank all of you for following me from my old blog Mittens and my new followers that have found me too.
So give me a few days to get something together for a lovely Thank you giveaway. Stay tuned.

Have a great Sunday, it is cool and cloudy out today. We are waiting for the rain to start falling.

Spring Green and Random Things

This weekend has been pretty random and full of events.

First up was our invite to the opening day of the new Kate Spade shop at the forum shops in Caesars Palace yesterday.
The shop looks amazing and is full of such bright pretty colors. A little bird told me to expect a visit from Brad, from Its a Brad Brad World, next month!!! I am sooo excited. I hope Gary comes too, LOVE THEM!

The staff at Kate Spade is unlike any other. They know us by name even B, and treat us like royalty when we walk in. If you are ever in Vegas, stop in and see Justin there. He is so sweet and amazing. Tell him Brooklyn sent ya, lol!

After our shopping trip through Caesars Palace we were off to get our backyard ready for a renovation. Yes, we are getting a backyard just in time for 100* temps, lol.
But B will enjoy it so. It has been really fun designing what we want and seeing it come to life.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer before it is all complete.

I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I had gained weight without me realizing it til I saw myself in pictures recently. So we have added a treadmill to the house and I have started my running every night. I am already feeling so much more energized and good. I have a long road ahead of me but I am at least up and going. Its is so nice to not have to leave the house to try to get to the gym and fight someone for a treadmill or figure out what to do with B while I worked out.
Now, there are no excuses, I just go upstairs and put on my own tv and watch my horrible reality shows while I sweat the pounds away. :)
(this was last summer, so I hope to feel as comfortable as I did here)

The days have been beautiful here, so a lot of outside activity this week, B can ride his bike all the way to our park. We walk behind him and then play in the park while the warm breeze blows thru. Sad it is supposed to all go away tomorrow, so we better get out and enjoy it while we can.

Also a shout of THANKS to all my amazing etsy buyers this week! The good ones make it all worth it! The ones with manners and kindness are always welcome in to shop anytime.

Whats in a bag

what do you look for when shopping for a new bag?

I look for small, unique and has to be a clutch.

After being held down with diaper bags and oversized purses to carry all things baby...I have now realized its all about the easy grab and go clutch.

I don't have to carry all that baby stuff anymore. All I have is a wallet, phone, chapstick and a key.

As soon as my eyes fell upon this clutch, I was hooked. I had to have it.
It is unique, and soft as a pillow. The weaving of an ombre' like color from gold to black kills me and metallic too!!!!

Okay here is my best Rachel Zoe impersonation "I DIE"

It is classic and can be dressy or casual...and best of all I can use it as a pillow if I get in trouble for buying it and have to sleep on the couch ;) love ya babe

Welcome Spring

(image via here)
What goes thru your mind on the first day of Spring?

It was so beautiful here today that it made me think back to the days when I was a little girl.

My dad owned a bad a$$ Jeep, that thing shined like a diamond.
He would spend all day washing and waxing and then we would get in and go for a ride.

Man, that takes me back.

My dad is a huge music lover and the louder the better, he would crank those 70s southern bands and off we would go. Hitting the bumpy hills with a roller coaster like feel.
Seat belts weren't required back then so there was a lot of hitting my head on that dang bar.

Off down to the river we would head and just drive with the top off and the wind in our hair.
(this is my home town of Chester, Il. Looking over to the Mo. side of the Mississippi River.)

So today, I did the same with B. We set off with the sunroof open the windows down and the music LOUD!
We drove from one end of the city to the other. Did I mention loud music puts B to sleep.
As we drove he fell off into lala land and I went back in time. Remembering those innocent days of just being a little girl having fun with her dad.

Shabby Chic Union Jack

I don't know what it is about the Union Jack flag that is so intriguing to me.

I just love the way it looks and be manipulated in so many different ways.

The design of course is from the Queen of Shabby Chic, Rachel Ashwell.

I sat and made beautiful girly bookmarks today with inspiration from her.

pink satin and vintage floral fabrics come together so beautifully.

It is just so cool how this image can take on a whole new look just by using different fabrics.

So funny how I headed to make something completely different today and lost myself in this instead.

Maybe tomorrow will be the day for the other inspired item I want to make.

Shabby French Crowns

Since Spring is here and garden parties will be starting, I thought I would make up some crowns for a french table setting.

I love being able to sit in my studio and just pull from all my scraps of papers and fabrics to make something out of nothing.

These little French Shabby Crowns are all sewn and put together with french papers and vintage fabric scraps.

Wouldn't they look lovely holding napkins and your silverware to greet your party guests?

I am joining Kathleen for White Wednesday over at Faded Charm.

As for me I am back to the studio to play some more.
